OPENING ADDRESS BY THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS AT THE INAUGURATION OF CIPPON COUNCIL MEMBERS.

HON. JOHN OGAR ODEY, former Minister of Information and Communications, delivering his Inaugural Address during the CIPPON Council Inauguration event at Radio House, Abuja, in March 2001

Information and Communication Minister, Hon John Odey, has expressed government’s displeasure over annual loss of huge resources to the nation due to out sourcing of Nigerian printing jobs to countries across the world.

Speaking at the inauguration of members of the Chartered institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) in Abuja on Tuesday, 11th March, 2008, the Minister blamed the loss of such revenue on the activities of quacks and charlatans in the printing industry in Nigeria.

He, therefore, called on CIPPON to begin the process of weeding out the quacks and charlatans out of the profession with a view to ensuring quality practice all over Nigeria.

In order to win the confidence of Nigerians with printing needs, the minister enjoined members of the Chartered Institute to strive for professionalism while also adhering strictly to quality control to remain relevant in the competitive industry.
